Residents in one Oklahoma community are being evacuated as crews continue to battle a blaze in southern Oklahoma. On Monday afternoon, the Stephens County Sheriff’s Office announced that the Town of Velma was being evacuated due to a large fire in the area.
Deputies say residents should leave and remain away from the area until further notice. For those without a place to go, the Stephens County Fairgrounds is serving as a shelter.
