Two teams that have already played a 2026 game meet Friday when San Jose State visits Eastern Michigan at Rynearson Stadium in Ypsilanti, Michigan.
The Spartans opened their season with a 42-26 loss at No. 14 USC. Quarterback Luke Weaver looked sharp in defeat, completing 21 of 32 passes for 234 yards and two touchdowns, and he rushed for 42 yards and another score. San Jose State trailed 28-0 at halftime before rallying in the second half.
Eastern Michigan enters at 1-0 after beating Sacramento State 28-17. Quarterback Noah Kim, who led the Mid-American Conference with 2,817 passing yards in 2025, was named MAC Offensive Player of the Week for his performance in the win.
This is the first regular-season meeting between these programs. The previous two matchups, both bowl games, were won by Eastern Michigan. The Eagles went 4-8 last season, while the Spartans finished 3-9.
