Nintendo is gearing up for a double dose of presentations next week, starting with a celebration that fans have been waiting decades for. The company confirmed that a Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Direct will air on September 8th at 10AM ET, followed by a general Nintendo Direct on September 9th at the same time.
The Zelda presentation is expected to run about 30 minutes. It will stream live on Nintendo‘s official YouTube channel and through the Nintendo Today! smart-device app. According to recent leaks, viewers might catch a glimpse of a special edition Switch 2 console and controller designed for the anniversary. Beyond that, rumors have been circulating about an Ocarina of Time remake and the live-action Zelda movie that is supposedly hitting theaters next year.
Nintendo has not officially confirmed those projects, but the timing suggests some big announcements waiting in the wings. The following day’s Direct will shift focus to the broader Switch 2 lineup, with a 45-minute presentation centered on games launching this winter. Nintendo Treehouse: Live will follow the Direct, offering a closer look at select titles with real gameplay.
There is also the possibility that the presentation will include a preview of upcoming additions to the Nintendo Classics library. Nintendo hasn’t said which games might be featured, leaving room for speculation ahead of both events. For Switch 2 owners, the question of whether any of these upcoming titles justify the console’s recent $50 price increase could be answered sooner rather than later.
