Armenia went into the game after a 2-0 home win over Latvia at Republican Stadium – Vazgen Sargsyan in Nations League C. Yegishe Melikyan’s men boasted 56% possession and had four shots on target, with Georgiy Arutiunian and Artur Gharibyan scoring one goal each.
Montenegro claimed a home victory in their previous game. A 2-1 Nations League C win occurred against Cyprus at Stadion Pod Goricom. The Brave Falcons had four shots on goal and enjoyed 66% possession, with Nikola Krstovic and Milutin Osmajic finding the net.
Early in the match, Stefan Savic (Montenegro) header from very close range missed to the right following a corner. Narek Hovhannisyan (Armenia) then hit the left post with a right footed shot from the left side of the box. Assisted by Eduard Spertsyan.
Armenia made a substitution as Edgar Sevikyan replaced Artur Serobyan. Montenegro responded with three changes: Aleksa Latkovic replaced Milan Roganovic, Risto Radunovic replaced Ognjen Gasevic, and Vasilije Adzic replaced Stefan Loncar.

History between the sides has been tight. Montenegro and Armenia have played four times so far. Two each in competitive and friendly matches, and Montenegro has a negative record – a win, two losses and a draw. The first clash in Yerevan on November 11, 2016 ended 3:2 in favor of Armenia. Armenia also celebrated a 1-0 victory in a friendly match thanks to a goal from Bicakcijan. In June last year, there was a draw in Nikšić (2-2). The Armenians’ goal near Bistrica was scored by debutants and great hopes of Montenegrin football – Vasilije Adzic for 1:1 and Andrija Bulatovic for 2:1.
