WARREN COUNTY, Ky. — A large law enforcement presence gathered off Interstate 65 North in Warren County on Monday afternoon after Kentucky State Police confirmed a trooper-involved shooting.
Trooper Katan Parker with KSP confirmed that agencies were responding to the area. Kentucky State Police posted a statement to X confirming the shooting and released an image of the car suspected in the incident.
The suspect vehicle is described as a blue Honda Civic with an Alabama temporary tag, TN018596. KSP said it is searching for a bluish-gray Honda Civic that was present during a trooper-involved shooting on I-65 northbound near the 38-mile marker in Warren County.
A public safety alert described the vehicle as a blueish-gray Honda Civic with temporary tag TN018596. The vehicle was reportedly last seen at I-65 northbound at the 75-mile marker. Authorities say the individual should be considered armed and dangerous. If seen, the public should not approach this individual and should call 911 immediately.
I-65 Northbound at the 38-mile marker remained shut down as of around 2:40 p.m., according to the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet District Three. Multiple agencies responded to the trooper-involved shooting, which reportedly occurred on Interstate 65 North at the 39-mile marker in Warren County.
Warren County Sheriff Brett Hightower confirmed Warren County deputies responded to the scene. News 40 crews on scene confirmed a heavy first responder presence, including Warren County Emergency Management, the Kentucky State Police and EMS. Drivers are being rerouted to take Exit 30. The section of the interstate on scene is shut down. Additional details are not confirmed by officials at this time.
Kentucky State Police are searching for a suspect in a ‘severe attack’ on law enforcement in Warren County. KSP Post 3 in Bowling Green said the shooting took place on I-65 in Warren County. A BLUE ALERT from the state police said the incident was a severe attack on law enforcement and that the suspect may be in a blue-gray Honda Civic with an Alabama temporary tag TN018596. The vehicle was last seen around the 75-mile marker.
Law enforcement considers the suspect to be armed and dangerous. The public is warned not to approach the suspect and to call 911. The Bowling Green Police Department said I-65 North is currently closed at mile marker 30 and advised drivers to seek alternate routes. The Elizabethtown Police Department posted that there will be an increased law enforcement presence in and around Elizabethtown throughout Hardin County.
