Curaçao continued its strong run alongside wins for Haiti and Costa Rica in Group A as League A closed Group Stage Thursday action of the 2026/2027 Concacaf Nations League with big results from Curaçao, Haiti and Costa Rica.
Curaçao kept its tally in Group A with a 1-nil win against Trinidad & Tobago at Stadion Ergilio Hato in Willemstad, Curaçao. After a goalless half, The Blue Wave found its breakthrough in the 58th minute thanks to a ready Juninho Bacuna, who capitalized on an assist in the box to send a right foot volley to the back of the net to secure Curaçao’s third straight win in Group A. The Curaçao Football Federation announced an attendance of 7,662 at the Ergilio Hato Stadium, where the home crowd remained behind the Blue Wave as the team searched for the breakthrough. That moment finally came when Bacuna found the net after being set up by Tahith Chong, putting Curaçao ahead 1-0 and sending the stands into celebration. The goal proved to be the winner.
Curaçao had to work for the victory. The Blue Wave created several opportunities during the first half but went into halftime with the score still 0-0. Kenji Gorré posed a regular threat from the left, while Chong and Jürgen Locadia also had opportunities to open the scoring. The national team registered 18 shots, nine of them on target, compared with only two shots on target for Trinidad & Tobago. Bacuna eventually rewarded that pressure shortly before the hour mark. The evening became more difficult for Trinidad & Tobago when Dantaye Gilbert was sent off in the 71st minute, leaving the visitors with ten players for the final part of the match. Goalkeeper Eloy Room kept a clean sheet, and Curaçao protected its narrow advantage through the final whistle.
The goal also carried personal significance for Bacuna. It was his 16th international goal for Curaçao, putting him just one behind his brother Leandro Bacuna on the national team’s all-time scoring list.
Haiti secured a 4-1 away victory against hosts Dominican Republic at Estadio Olímpico Félix Sánchez in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. The Grenadiers kicked off their goal count of the night in the first minutes of the match with Louicius Deedson sending the ball to the back of the net in the 9th minute. Wilson Isidor was ready in the box to take advantage of a loose ball after a free kick in the 51st minute, scoring Haiti’s second goal of the night with a header.
