The coolest air of the season, so far, heads into New Hampshire today with mostly dry conditions. Today is a bright but very cool day with highs only in the 50s. The lingering breeze (10-20+ mph) will die down in the afternoon.
It is going to be very chilly with lows well into the 30s in most places. A widespread frost is likely and a freeze is also possible in central and northern New Hampshire. This will end the growing season in many places away from the Seacoast or right along the lakes.
Eventually, a few spotty showers for some Thursday, then, a mostly dry stretch rolls on into the weekend as temps trend higher. We do rebound with a warming trend Wednesday (60s) into Thursday (60s to lower 70s). We may need to dodge some clouds and occasional showers in the North Country and White Mountains both days but we’ll be at least partly sunny for the rest of the week otherwise.
4Warn Weather — A chilly October night is ahead across Southeast Michigan, with frost possible in parts of the region before temperatures climb back above normal later this week. A Frost Advisory is in effect from midnight through 8 a. m. Tuesday for Sanilac, Genesee, Lapeer, and St. Clair counties in Southeast Michigan. Temperatures in the advisory area could fall as low as 32 degrees, allowing frost to develop. Anyone with sensitive outdoor plants in those areas should cover them or bring them indoors before temperatures fall overnight.
Metro Detroit will remain somewhat milder. Skies will be mostly clear tonight, with temperatures falling to around 40 degrees. Colder locations farther north and west could fall into the 30s. Tuesday starts chilly but turns pleasant and dry. Sunshine will help temperatures recover to around 65 degrees during the afternoon before temperatures fall into the lower to mid-50s Tuesday night.
The warm-up becomes much more noticeable Wednesday. Highs climb to the lower to mid-70s under mostly sunny skies, with west winds occasionally gusting above 20 mph. A couple of sprinkles are possible Wednesday morning, but most of the region will not see a drop. Wednesday night turns cooler again, with lows around 49 degrees.
Thursday remains dry and mostly sunny, with highs in the upper 60s. Temperatures fall to around the mid-40s Thursday night. Friday brings another quiet and seasonable day, with mostly sunny skies and a high near 68 degrees. Friday night will be mostly clear, with a low around 45 degrees.
The weekend stays dry. Saturday will see highs in the mid-60s, followed by lows from 45 to 50 degrees Saturday night. A warmer push arrives Sunday, with highs climbing back into the lower 70s. Sunday night will be partly cloudy with temperatures falling into the mid-50s. The warmer pattern continues into Monday, with highs potentially reaching the lower 70s again. Rain chances remain very limited through the period, making this a long stretch of favorable weather for outdoor plans.
