McDonald’s Monopoly Is Back, With a $1 Million Prize

Remember peeling Monopoly pieces off your McDonald's fries and hoping you’d hit the jackpot? It’s time to try again — with prizes ranging from free food to $1 million. McDonald’s first launched the Monopoly promotion in the 1980s, turning select menu packaging into game pieces that could lead to free food, cash and other prizes.

After a nine-year hiatus in the U.S., the promotion returned in 2025. Now it’s coming back for another round, returning nationwide next month on eligible menu items. You’ll need the McDonald’s app to play and redeem them.

Prizes include MyMcDonald’s Rewards points, vacations, vehicles and $50,000 toward a home down payment or college debt. McDonald’s Monopoly begins Oct. 6 at participating restaurants in the U.S.

Game pieces will be available with eligible purchases while supplies last through Nov. 1, with Chance Card gameplay continuing through Nov. 8. The deadline to claim prizes is Nov. 22.

To play, customers need the McDonald’s app and must opt in to MyMcDonald’s Rewards and register for the Monopoly game. They can then purchase an eligible menu item, peel off the game piece and scan it in the app to redeem a prize, collect a property or receive a Chance Card play.

Registered customers can also receive a bonus Chance Card play for each eligible item purchased through the app or with a Rewards code at a kiosk, counter or drive-through through Nov. 1. No purchase is necessary, and making a purchase does not improve a player’s chances of winning.

Players can request a game piece by mail beginning Sept. 22, with requests due by Nov. 2. The promotion is open to residents of all 50 states and Washington, D.C., who are 18 or older and meet the game’s registration requirements.

The biggest prize up for grabs is $1 million, paid as $50,000 per year for 20 years without interest, according to the official rules. Other cash prizes range from $25 to $50,000, including three $50,000 prizes toward a home down payment and three toward college debt.

Players can also win Carnival Cruise Line vacation packages, trips to Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex, 2027 Jeep Cherokees and a choice of one of three Polaris vehicles through Collect to Win.

Chance Card prizes include Grubhub, Uber Eats and Ulta Beauty gift cards, 2027 Jeep Cherokees and free McDonald’s for a year, awarded as a $1,040 McDonald’s gift card.

Instant wins include McChicken sandwiches, Snack Wraps, McGriddles, shakes, smoothies, small fries and other menu items, as well as 1,500 to 7,000 MyMcDonald’s Rewards points.

McDonald’s lists the overall odds of winning as 1 in 5, with most winning pieces awarding food. The company says prizes are depleted as they are won, and the odds may change during the promotion. Odds of winning in the Chance Card game are determined by how long a player plays the game in the app.

McDonald’s is bringing back its Monopoly promotion, giving customers a shot at prizes ranging from free food to $1 million in cash. The fast-food giant’s limited-time game returns Oct. 6 with its familiar peel-off pieces, but gameplay will now be handled through the McDonald’s app. Customers can peel a game piece from eligible food packaging and scan it in the app to redeem prizes or participate in additional games.

The promotion comes with a sizable slate of prizes, including a top $1 million cash award, 2027 Jeep Cherokees, Carnival cruise vacations, trips to Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex and Polaris vehicles. Other prizes include $50,000 toward a home down payment, $50,000 toward college debt, gift cards and free McDonald’s food.

Customers can find game pieces on eligible breakfast, lunch and dinner purchases, including Quarter Pounders with Cheese, Egg McMuffins, large fries and large hot and cold drinks.

Some pieces provide instant food prizes or between 1,500 and 7,000 MyMcDonald’s Rewards points. Others allow customers to collect properties for larger prizes or play a digital Chance Card game.

“MONOPOLY at McDonald’s is more than just a game. It’s about childhood memories, family moments and surprises that make our day,” Alyssa Buetikofer, senior vice president and chief marketing and customer experience officer of McDonald’s USA, said in announcing the promotion. “This year, we’re giving fans even more reasons to play with bigger prizes, more rewards, and a simpler digital game experience that includes the classic peel.”

Customers must register for the game through the McDonald’s app and opt in to the company’s rewards program to participate digitally. Those who purchase an eligible item through the app or provide their rewards code when ordering can also receive a bonus Chance Card play, provided they registered before placing the order.

The promotion runs through Nov. 1 while game pieces last. McDonald’s said no purchase is necessary, and its official rules put the overall odds of winning at 1 in 5, with most prizes consisting of food. The $1 million top prize is paid as $50,000 annually for 20 years without interest. McDonald’s said Chance Card gameplay continues through Nov. 8, with prize claims due by Nov. 22.
