Smith & Wesson is best known for its classic revolvers and modern pistols, but the brand has also made a name for itself turning out hardworking pocket knives that are surprisingly affordable. They’re typically well under $100, but even with Prime Day officially over, you can still snag a reliable EDC or survival knife for a song—like, all of 10 bucks. Most of the brand’s classics are on sale for up to 59 percent off, so it’s an excellent time to stock up on your collection. Plus, all are backed by Smith & Wesson’s limited lifetime warranty.
If you’re a fan of the brand and are in the market for a solid all-around EDC knife, this is it. Its skeletonized handle gives it a distinctive look and keeps its weight down to an ultralight 1.6 ounces. You hardly feel this knife in your pocket, plus it’s designed with ambidextrous thumb knobs and a pocket clip. The 2.2-inch drop-point blade is made of 7Cr17MoV high-carbon stainless steel, which is tough enough to withstand abuse and retain its edge, yet easy to sharpen.
This survival knife is burly but not overbuilt, so it’s comfortable enough for EDC. It has a 3.3-inch tanto point serrated blade made of 7Cr17MoV high-carbon stainless steel, with a textured rubber-coated aluminum handle that won’t slip during an emergency. It also has an integrated seat belt cutter and glass-breaker pommel.
We’re still staunch advocates of owning a good pocketknife. Sure, that’s part of a rejection of modernity, a fight against an increasing reliance on anything with a charging port. But honestly, desk jockeys and weekend hobbyists will find themselves using a pocketknife a lot more than you might think; it’s a fun little investment. And since good pocket knives ain’t always cheap, Amazon’s October Prime Day is a nice way to save a few bucks on a new addition to the rotation.
As we write this, it’s day one, so there might be a few more deals to shop some EDC (ahem, everyday carry) pieces. But we’re already seeing a few markdowns on good knives. Our favorite of the moment is an Opinel number eight, which everyone and their mother already owns—but the deal is nice if you’re in need of a replacement. And while our favorite Leatherman Free T4 isn’t currently on sale, the brand’s Wingman—great name—multi-tool is marked down at 29 percent off.
If none of that catches your fancy, trust us when we say one of those other sales will. Just take a look for yourself and shop the whole selection here.
