Marvel Unveils Spider-Punk, Noir, and Crisis of Faith at NYCC

Marvel Comics used its Spider-Web panel at New York Comic Con to announce a slate of Spider-Man-related comics arriving in early 2027. Among the reveals were new solo series for Spider-Punk and Spider-Man: Noir, a new anthology called Marvel SFX: THWIP, and a crossover between Amazing Spider-Man and Miles Morales: Spider-Man titled Crisis of Faith.

The Crisis of Faith crossover is set for 2027 and comes from Miles Morales: Spider-Man writer Bryan Hill and Amazing Spider-Man writer Joe Kelly. Marvel says the story will drastically alter the trust and relationship between the two Spider-Men and their allies, with more details to come. Spider-Editor Nick Lowe said Miles and Peter have been each other’s support system since they first met in Spider-Men in 2012. Everything changes in April, Lowe said. He noted Peter has been getting more risky since Hellgate punched him into space, and some of those choices will be uncovered. Miles is not pleased. But Miles has been keeping strange and questionable company that Peter does not approve of. Lowe called that just the tip of the iceberg and said Kelly and Bryan Edward Hill are cooking up magic on the crossover.

Spider-Punk returns with writer Cody Ziglar and artist Justin Mason, reuniting with cover artist Taurin Clarke. Spider-Punk #1 is scheduled for January 20, 2027. The series introduces Mz. Negative, a new adversary for Hobie Brown as he searches for missing members of his band in a rock ‘n’ roll mystery adventure. The Spider-Band is missing, and Hobie is in L.A. to unravel what happened to his friends. He will confront his inner demons along the way, and those of Mz. Negative, who has teamed up with Scorpion. Ziglar said he is honored and excited to take another spin with Hobie and explore Universe-138, and he praised Mason as one of his favorite artists to work with. Ziglar also said fan support made a third book possible.

Marvel SFX: THWIP #1 begins in January. The anthology focuses on iconic sound effects from Marvel Comics. It features stories by Jed MacKay, Stephen Graham Jones, and Rainbow Rowell, with art from Alessandro Cappuccio, Lucas Werneck, and others. Future issues will feature creators including Eric Zawadszi and Simone Di Meo, with additional Marvel SFX series to follow. The first issue is due January 27, 2027. Lowe said THWIP was the sound effect heard round the world when Artie Simek lettered it in ASM #36. He said Spidey has had anthologies before, but this one is special and filled with fascinating voices from comics and literature. The stories each have a hook on Spider-Man’s webs and run from thrilling to making readers sob uncontrollably, he said.

In February, Spider-Man: Noir #1 arrives from writer Alex Segura and artist Farid Karami. The series finds Peter Parker caught in an investigation involving a mysterious underworld artifact, his new girlfriend’s ex, and Venom Noir. The first issue is scheduled for February 10, 2027. Segura said it has been a treat to blend noir stories and the Spider-Man mythos. He said working with Karami on a story that introduces mysterious and perhaps familiar elements to the Noir universe and pushes Spidey to the brink has been a blast. The creative team aims to keep readers on their toes from page one. Segura added that they get to answer the ultimate question: can Peter Parker ever be truly happy?

Marvel also announced solicitations for Friendly Neighborhood Mary Jane #2 with interior artwork by Phil Noto, on sale December 2026, and Miles Morales: Spider-Man #3 with interior artwork by Nico Leon, on sale November 2026. New York Comic Con 2026 is underway at the Javits Center in New York City. It marks the event’s 20th anniversary, with a Coney Island theme that includes collaborations, merch, and performances. Organized by ReedPop, NYCC is the East Coast’s largest pop culture convention, covering comics, movies, TV, anime, gaming, cosplay, and books. It features a show floor, Artist Alley, panels and screenings, celebrity guests, signings and photo ops, gaming areas, Family HQ, and cosplay events. Marvel also said fans can pre-register for the all-new Marvel Comics app powered by WEBTOON, featuring more than 35,000 digital comics, personalized discovery tools, Pull List features, and new issues as early as 30 days after print release.
