Ure Breaks La Liga Duck as Sevilla Draw Six-Goal Thriller at Levante

Robbie Ure scored his first La Liga goal and set up another as Sevilla drew 3-3 at Levante, a result that turned a chaotic Spanish top-flight match into a six-goal thriller.

The former Rangers forward, signed from Swedish side Sirius in the summer for £5.5m, pounced on a defensive error from the struggling hosts before rounding the goalkeeper and opening his account for his new club.

After the break, the 22-year-old, who won his first caps for his country during head coach Sebastien Pocognoli’s maiden Scotland camp, rose to win a header that set up Portuguese winger Felix Correia to double the visitors’ lead.

Levante quickly responded through a goal from Ivan Romero, with Ure being substituted nine minutes later.

In a chaotic finale, the home side netted the first of three stoppage-time goals with a stunning equaliser from Adrian de la Fuente.

A thumping strike from Isaac Romero, who was then sent off with a second yellow card for excessive celebration, put Sevilla back ahead just three minutes later.

However, there was time for more drama in the 100th minute as Ifeanyi Ndukwe struck from close range to level an enthralling encounter.

Before the match, Sevilla boss Luis Garcia Plaza had praised Ure’s contributions for Scotland and said he was ready to break his La Liga duck soon. He noted Ure had yet to score in his seven games for Sevilla after a prolific run in Swedish football with Sirius, where he scored 26 goals in 43 league starts. Plaza was pleased at how Ure did for Scotland, when the ex-Rangers starlet made appearances in all four games.

“It was good to see Robbie play for his country and he did well,” Plaza said. “I actually think his best game for Sevilla so far came in the last match before the international break against Barcelona. I am really pleased with Robbie’s progress. It’s a huge change for him. He came from a very modest league, where the level is very low. And he realised that on his first day in Bilbao. He has to keep developing. We expect Robbie to continue progressing. This type of player isn’t an established star. They are signings for the future. He is someone who will keep improving because they’re very young.”
