UTM Mourns the Passing of Soldier Lucius Banda, Grieving Fans and Colleagues in Shock

The UTM party is reeling from the sudden death of renowned musician Soldier Lucius Banda, a key figure within the party and a close associate of leader Saulos Chilima.

Soldier Lucius Banda served as the Campaign Director for UTM and was highly regarded in the party’s leadership.

UTM spokesperson Felix Njawala expressed shock at the news, highlighting the deep impact of Banda’s passing on their senior members.

Njawala emphasized, “The party was unaware of the critical condition he was in and the sudden loss has left us all in mourning.”

Following the news of Chilima’s return from South Korea, he flew to South Africa to visit Lucius Banda.

Several senior party members also visited him in South Africa, indicating the gravity of the situation.

The outpouring of grief from fans and colleagues alike underscored Soldier’s role as both a compassionate mentor to fellow musicians and a beloved entertainer.

Anjiru Fumulani, the leader of the Black Missionaries band, expressed deep sorrow: “This loss is too much to bear. It is a profound tragedy.”

Another musician, Wendy Harawa, lamented, “Words fail me. Lord, have mercy on us all.”

Many Malawian artists continue to express their condolences, with Lucius Banda passing away at the age of 54.

Steve Muliya, another musician, described Lucius Banda as the father of Malawian music. Many of his peers concur, sharing memories of his kindheartedness and sense of humor.

In their grief, the Musicians Union of Malawi (MUM) hailed Lucious Banda as a respected figure and a unifying force.

MUM president Vita Chirwa stated that Banda was a cherished figure who supported and uplifted fellow artists in the country.

Chirwa went on to highlight the impact of Banda’s philanthropic efforts in Malawi.
