Two Teens Found Dead in Arizona’s Tonto National Forest

PHOENIX, Arizona – Authorities are investigating the deaths of two teenagers found shot in Arizona’s Tonto National Forest. The bodies of 18-year-old Pandora Kjolsrud and 17-year-old Evan Clark were discovered on May 27 following a weekend camping trip.
The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office reported that the deaths are being treated as suspicious. “At this time, the circumstances surrounding their deaths are being treated as suspicious,” said Sgt. Joaquin Enriquez.
Community members are expressing shock and grief over the tragedy. One resident voiced their frustration, asking, “Who? Why? What? When?” Others in the area echoed these sentiments, emphasizing the need for answers and safety in the wake of the double homicide.
Another local commented, “It’s really scary that it’s just so close to home. What are they going through? Are they going to get answers?” Many in the Arcadia community are concerned about public safety following the incident.
The sheriff’s deputies are conducting a careful and thorough investigation. Officials have not released suspect information yet. FOX 10 inquired about public safety concerns in the vicinity but received no comment to avoid hindering the investigation.
Evan Clark’s mother, Sandra Sweeney, expressed her grief in a statement, saying, “This last week, Evan was taken from me, and my level of grief feels insurmountable.” She remembered her son as a boy who was destined to become a wonderful young man.
