T-Mobile Appoints Srini Gopalan as New CEO Amid Leadership Shift

BELLEVUE, Wash. — T-Mobile announced Monday that Srini Gopalan will become the company’s Chief Executive Officer on November 1, 2025. Gopalan, who has served as T-Mobile’s Chief Operating Officer, will take over from Mike Sievert, who is moving to a newly created position as Vice Chairman.
Sievert has held the top position since April 2020. Under his leadership, T-Mobile saw significant growth, becoming a leader in both wireless and broadband markets. His new role will involve advising on long-term strategies, innovation, and talent development.
“I couldn’t be more excited to announce Srini Gopalan as our next CEO,” Sievert said in a statement. “He has the skills and experience necessary to lead T-Mobile into the future.”
Prior to joining T-Mobile, Gopalan was the CEO of Deutsche Telekom’s business in Germany, where he successfully doubled the company’s growth rate. He has also held senior positions at Bharti Airtel, Capital One, and Vodafone.
Gopalan expressed gratitude for the opportunity and emphasized his commitment to continuing T-Mobile’s customer-first approach. “Mike has done a phenomenal job transforming T-Mobile into the world’s most successful telecom,” he stated.
This leadership transition is aligned with T-Mobile’s succession planning process to maintain momentum in its growth strategy. Since Gopalan joined as COO, he has contributed to the company’s expansion in 5G and fiber network access while focusing on enhancing customer experiences.
“Our culture and brand have made us the most admired and customer-centric company in our industry,” Gopalan said. “What lies ahead is even more exciting as we continue to redefine wireless services for our customers.”
