Alexander Newley Marries Sheela Raman in Fairytale Wedding

SALZBURG, Austria — Alexander “Sacha” Newley, 60, tied the knot with singer-songwriter Sheela Raman, 52, at a stunning lakeside ceremony in Salzburg over the weekend. The wedding took place on September 27, with the couple sharing highlights on Instagram the following day.

Dame Joan Collins, the 92-year-old English actress and author, proudly walked her son down the aisle, dressed in a light blue caped gown and a matching oversized hat. Sheela radiated beauty in a vintage lace gown, as the couple exchanged vows surrounded by friends and family.

The couple’s three-year-old daughter, Deia Shanaya, stole the show as the flower girl, bringing smiles and joy to the guests. The wedding festivities included lavish table settings and heartfelt moments, illustrated in the couple’s Instagram video, which captured their love story.

Reflecting on their wedding day, Sheela shared, “What a gift to stand side-by-side, surrounded by our beloved friends and family, as we step into this new chapter together. The couple had initially planned to wed in the South of France in 2020, but the COVID-19 pandemic forced them to delay those plans. After a small civil ceremony in 2020, they finally realized their dream wedding by choosing Lake Fuschl as the venue.

Joan Collins expressed her joy during the celebrations, calling the event “magical.” She is a doting mother, sharing that seeing her children happy is what makes her happiest. Collins also emphasized the importance of family, enjoying this milestone in her son’s life.

As she looked on at her son and new daughter-in-law, she celebrated the love that filled the room, saying, “It was an honor to have my mother there with us to walk me down the aisle.” The couple also performed a duet of “Pure Imagination,” from the musical legacy of Alexander’s late father, Anthony Newley.
