Hardy Country Songwriter Boygenius Trio Concert

Nashville, TN — Indie-rock trio Boygenius, made up of Lucy Dacus, Phoebe Bridgers, and Julien Baker, recently revealed their admiration for country artist Hardy during an interview with Pitchfork.

“We saw Hardy in L.A. recently and I lost brain cells,” Dacus said, highlighting her appreciation for Hardy’s songwriting. The trio has been vocal about their admiration for various artists, and Hardy caught their attention.

In a separate interview with Rolling Stone, Hardy expressed surprise at the band’s interest in his work. He learned about their fandom through his sister, who sent him an original video. “That was really cool. I was not expecting that at all,” Hardy remarked. He also mentioned that he has been direct messaging the band.

Julien Baker noted, “It scratches a weird itch in her brain,” prompting Hardy to reflect on the connection. He expressed enthusiasm about the possibility of collaborating with Boygenius, saying, “Dude, I’m here for it.”

Hardy, who released his new album, *Country! Country!* earlier this month, shared his thoughts on his current music preferences during an interview with Nashville Now. He named the melodic metal band Spiritbox as one of his favorites.

“Metalheads love to shit on Spiritbox, but, man, it’s very fresh,” Hardy explained. He praised their unique style and sound, emphasizing that if one listens without preconceived notions, it feels innovative and cool.

Hardy concluded, noting the band’s anonymity and their artistic aesthetics, saying, “There’s a big weird sexual energy with a lot of it, which I think is super cool. Aesthetically it’s really cool.”
