MacKenzie Scott’s Philanthropy Focuses on Diversity and Education

San Francisco, CA — MacKenzie Scott is doubling down on her commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion through significant gifts aimed at supporting scholarship providers for students of color and other underrepresented communities.
In her latest round of donations, Scott contributed to 10,000 Degrees, a Bay Area nonprofit that aims to expand college access for low-income and largely non-white students. She also made eight-figure commitments to support Native student scholars and Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) through the United Negro College Fund (UNCF).
Scott’s philanthropic efforts highlight the importance of educational equity, emphasizing the need for unrestricted support to empower underserved communities. Since 2019, she has donated over $19 billion to more than 2,000 nonprofits with a focus on social justice and equity.
Scott’s approach is notable for its unrestricted nature, allowing organizations the flexibility to allocate resources where they are needed most. “To change the world, you must begin with education,” Scott stated in a recent interview. “It is an investment in the future of our diverse society.”
Meanwhile, the Fortune Global Forum is set to return on October 26-27, 2025, in Riyadh, where CEOs and global leaders will come together to discuss the future of business. This underscores the ongoing dialogue around corporate responsibility and philanthropy in fostering inclusive growth.
The support for minority and underrepresented groups resonates with many who believe that diversity drives innovation and strengthens communities. As Scott continues to champion these causes, her philanthropic model may serve as a blueprint for future initiatives in social justice.
