Minkah Fitzpatrick Could Be Traded Again Before NFL Deadline
PITTSBURGH, Pa. — Former All-Pro safety Minkah Fitzpatrick may be on the move again as the NFL trade deadline approaches. This comes just months after he was traded from the Pittsburgh Steelers to the Miami Dolphins.
ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler recently identified Fitzpatrick as a potential trade candidate. He noted, “Safety Minkah Fitzpatrick is also on my radar. So, while I’m not so sure a complete house-cleaning is in order, it would surprise me if the Dolphins stood pat.”
The Dolphins are struggling this season, with a 1-6 record through the first seven weeks. While Fitzpatrick has been productive, tallying 42 tackles, one fumble recovery, five passes defensed, and one interception since rejoining Miami, his presence alone won’t turn the team’s fortunes around.
Given the Dolphins’ difficult situation, trading Fitzpatrick could provide valuable draft capital as they head into what looks like a rebuilding phase. The 28-year-old safety has proved to be a top performer in his career, particularly during his time with the Steelers, where he accumulated impressive stats from 2019 to 2024, including 516 tackles and 18 interceptions.
Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin expressed his respect for Fitzpatrick, stating, “Very difficult. His experience here and the production that he gave us speaks for itself. But you got to make tough choices.” Tomlin acknowledged the impact that Fitzpatrick had during his tenure with the Steelers.
Fitzpatrick, who was a first-round pick by the Dolphins in the 2018 NFL Draft, has a career total of 650 tackles and 21 interceptions. With the upcoming deadline looming, the decision surrounding his future remains uncertain.
