Virginia Cavaliers Face Wake Forest in Key ACC Showdown
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. — The No. 14 Virginia Cavaliers (8-1) aim to maintain their unbeaten run in Atlantic Coast Conference play when they host the Wake Forest Demon Deacons (5-3) at Scott Stadium on Saturday night at 7 p.m. ET. A win for Wake Forest would secure bowl eligibility for the team.
Virginia improved to 5-0 in the ACC last week with a commanding 31-21 victory over California, where J’Mari Taylor shined, rushing for 108 yards and two touchdowns. The Cavs’ defense was critical, highlighted by Kam Robinson‘s 35-yard interception return for a touchdown in the game’s final minute.
Quarterback Chandler Morris contributed significantly, completing 24 of 36 passes for 262 yards and connecting with nine different receivers as the Cavaliers extended their winning streak to seven games. Their only defeat this season was a non-conference loss to NC State on September 6.
Conversely, Wake Forest seeks to rebound from a disappointing 42-7 loss to Florida State last week, where the team turned the ball over twice and managed only 3.5 yards per offensive play. Wake’s lone score came during a fourth-quarter touchdown pass from Deshawn Purdie to Micah Mays Jr.
Virginia has had the upper hand in this matchup recently, snapping a five-game losing streak to Wake Forest last season with a narrow 31-30 victory. The Cavaliers lead the all-time series 35-17.
This matchup promises to be an exciting matchup as the Cavaliers look to solidify their standing in the conference and the Demon Deacons aim to bounce back. Make sure to tune into ESPN to catch all the action live.
