Cj Allen Georgia Linebacker Injury

Athens, Georgia – The No. 5 University of Georgia Bulldogs are currently leading the No. 10 Texas Longhorns 14-3 in the second quarter, but the game has taken a concerning turn with an injury to star linebacker CJ Allen.

Allen suffered a leg injury during a play when he was not involved in the tackle. He was seen briefly in the medical tent but later headed to the locker room favoring his left knee, raising concerns about his condition. ESPN’s reporter, Alyssa Rutledge, provided an update, saying, “You see his left leg bothering him. He went into the medical tent for a little bit, tried to go back out on the field. Now, you can see this is happening as we speak. He is being taken to the locker room. Moments ago, he couldn’t even put that much weight on his left leg. I’ll update you guys as soon as I know more.”

At the time of his exit, Allen had made three tackles, including one for a loss, solidifying his role as a key player on Georgia’s defense. Sophomore linebacker Jalon Walker has stepped in to replace him on the field.

Allen is recognized as a semifinalist for the 2025 Lott IMPACT Trophy, awarded to the nation’s top defensive player who demonstrates excellence on and off the field. In nine games this season, he leads Georgia with 75 tackles, ranking second in the Southeastern Conference (SEC), along with 3.5 sacks and two forced fumbles.

Head Coach Kirby Smart praised Allen’s performance earlier in the season, highlighting his toughness and leadership qualities. “He was frustrated and disappointed after some of the earlier games. We thought it was the first time he looked as fast as he’s been,” Smart said. “He’s a leader, man. He’s a special kid in terms of what he’s willing to sacrifice and give up for the team.”

Allen had previously played a total of 14 games in the 2024 season, where he made 12 starts and demonstrated his skills as one of the team’s top defenders. Following his recruitment, he acknowledged the significant influence of Georgia’s coaching staff and team environment in his decision to play for the Bulldogs. “There’s no other place you can go where you’re coached by the best and play with the best,” he said.

As fans await news on Allen’s condition, the Bulldogs hold a narrow edge against the Longhorns, striving to maintain their lead without one of their most reliable defenders.
