Jon Batiste Lauren Daigle Tribute

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) held a prestigious event on October 30, 2025, honoring contributors to the American music industry. Multi-Platinum artist Lauren Daigle was named Artist of the Year, while other honorees included Jackie Patillo and Ed Leonard.

During the event, RIAA Chairman and CEO Mitch Glazier emphasized the significance of various music genres, particularly Gospel and Christian music, for their community and hopeful messages. Executive Editor Melinda Newman from Billboard expressed pride in supporting the event and acknowledged the achievements of all honorees.

Senator Marsha Blackburn opened the night with remarks about protecting artists’ rights, especially in Nashville, known for its songwriters. Following her, Senator Chris Coons discussed the bipartisan efforts behind the NO FAKES Act, aimed at safeguarding artists against AI misuse.

The celebration included video tributes from prominent Contemporary Christian music figures such as Natalie Grant and For King & Country, congratulating Jackie Patillo. Michele Ballantyne, RIAA’s President, presented Patillo with her award, thanking her for advocating for artists.

Ed Leonard received a recognition for his Executive of the Year accolade, highlighting the influence of his mother in his career. Jon Batiste surprised Daigle with a performance of “This Little Light of Mine,” allowing the audience to join in. Daigle responded with her songs “Let It Be A Hallelujah” and the 6x Platinum hit “You Say,” emphasizing music’s unifying power.

The event concluded with a duet of “Be Okay” by both artists, reinforcing the theme of connection through music. Glazier reminded attendees of the vital role artists and lawmakers play in protecting creativity and culture. The RIAA Honors served as a celebration of music’s impact on different communities.
