Amy Acton And Vivek Ramaswamy Ohio Election

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Politics is heating up on social media as candidates vie for the Ohio governor’s seat, focusing on educational issues. Democratic candidate Amy Acton recently shared a clip from a video by Republican candidate Vivek Ramaswamy, which suggested that year-round schooling could ease parenting costs.

Acton’s repost highlights a stark contrast in their views. Following her post, Acton’s campaign manager, Phil Stein, criticized Ramaswamy’s stance, stating, ‘Blowing a massive hole in public school budgets by forcing teachers and students into year-round school is yet another example of how out of touch Vivek Ramaswamy is with Ohioans.’

Ramaswamy’s campaign did not deny the video’s authenticity but did respond. Campaign spokesperson Connie Luck remarked that a casual exchange on social media is not an official policy rollout. ‘It’s a conversation with voters, despite Democrats pretending otherwise,’ she said.

Luck accused Acton’s campaign of trying to distract voters from her education agenda, stating, ‘They know Amy Acton’s education agenda amounts to the same failed policies that continue to let down our children.’

In response, Acton’s campaign advisor, Justin Barasky, emphasized her commitment to public education. ‘She says regularly that public schools saved her life and, as governor, Amy would restore public school funding to a constitutional level first and foremost,’ Barasky noted.

Ramaswamy joined the discussion in a separate video on Tuesday, addressing issues of educational inequality. He shared insights on a school he visited that serves only Medicaid students, which extends their school day and focuses on physical education. ‘We want an education system that lifts every child up, and you know what, we’re going to think creatively on how we deliver it,’ he said.
