Gina, the wife of businessman and senator Nwoko, is in the spotlight following her comments on the recent nationwide protests in Nigeria. These protests, which began on August 1, are aimed at highlighting issues like poor governance and the rising cost of living that many Nigerians are facing.

On August 4, President Bola Tinubu addressed the nation, calling for the protests to end and for a shift towards dialogue. During this time, Gina spoke out against some of the violent actions taken by a few protesters. Unfortunately, her remarks didn’t sit well with everyone.

Social media exploded with backlash, with many users accusing Gina of being out of touch and speaking from a place of privilege. This prompted her to clarify her stance, acknowledging her privilege but expressing that it doesn’t make her any less concerned about the current challenges in Nigeria.

Gina explained that even though she might not feel the struggles as deeply as some, she is still affected by the economic issues, especially as her domestic staff and those close to her deal with the rising costs.

In response to the criticism, Nwoko came to her defense, taking to social media to commend his wife for her wisdom and support for Nigerians during these tough times. He expressed that, as a senator representing Delta North, he has always prioritized the welfare of the people.

Nwoko emphasized the importance of peaceful protests, stressing that there’s no justification for any loss of life. He highlighted that his legislative efforts and motions have always been aimed at helping the people, showing his commitment to addressing their needs.
