LAS VEGAS, Nevada — UFC Light Heavyweight champion Alex Pereira is stirring up excitement with a potential grappling match against UFC Middleweight champion Khamzat Chimaev. The challenge comes following Pereira’s knockout victory over Magomed Ankalaev last month.

During a recent interview, Pereira expressed a desire to test his skills against Chimaev, known for his elite wrestling. “That guy says he wants to fight with me, he’s gotta get out there, understand?” Pereira said. “Let’s fight in grappling. And another thing, we can fight in the UFC. UFC is doing BJJ, right? Let’s do that then, let’s make it happen.”

Striking a charitable note, Pereira added that he would donate all proceeds from the match to charity. “I don’t even know how much I’ll make – good money, though, you know who I am,” he said. “That money will be donated 100 percent to charity. That work for you? Chama.”

Chimaev quickly accepted the challenge over social media, signaling a willingness to meet Pereira in the octagon for this grappling showdown.

A match between Pereira and Chimaev, while not traditional mixed martial arts, promises to be an intriguing clash of combat styles, blending Chimaev’s formidable wrestling with Pereira’s grappling skills.

With both athletes eager to compete, MMA fans may witness the sport’s next big matchup unfolding soon.
