Australian swimming sensation Ariarne Titmus displayed stellar form at the Australian Swimming Trials in Brisbane, setting the stage for the upcoming Paris Olympics. Titmus, hailing from Tassie, showcased an impressive performance clocking 4:01.57 in the 400 meters freestyle heats, signaling her peak form as she gears up for the prestigious event.

Despite easing up towards the end of the race, Titmus remained just behind her heats time from the previous year’s world championships, where she famously broke the world record. The talented athlete narrowly missed extending her own record in the final, finishing with a commendable time of 3:55.44 – a mere 0.06 seconds shy of the world record.

Titmus’s exceptional display solidified her status as a top contender for the coveted gold medal at the Paris Olympics, showcasing her unwavering determination and prowess in the water.

Joining Titmus on the Olympic team is the remarkable Lani Pallister, who secured her spot with a commendable time of 4:02.27, surpassing the qualifying time by over two seconds. It was a proud moment for Janelle Pallister, a former 1988 Olympian, as she witnessed her daughter’s Olympic qualification.

The legendary Emma McKeon made history by becoming the first woman in her 30s to qualify for the Australian team since Lisa Curry in 1992. McKeon’s exceptional time of 56.85 placed her as the sole woman under the qualifying mark, further cementing her status as a swimming icon.

In a thrilling showdown between the last two 400m freestyle world champions, Elijah Winnington narrowly edged out Sam Short with a time of 3:43.26 to 3:43.90, securing their spots for the Paris Olympics. The intense competition and stellar performances at the trials set the stage for an exhilarating Olympic campaign for the Australian swimming team.
