Arizona State University Graduation Ceremony

PHOENIX, Arizona — Arizona State University (ASU) is set to celebrate its largest graduating class ever, with more than 21,000 students earning degrees this spring. The festivities begin this weekend and will include over 30 events, culminating in the main commencement ceremonies on Monday at Mountain America Stadium in Tempe.

The graduate student ceremony will kick off at 9 a.m., followed by the undergraduate ceremony at 7:30 p.m. In addition to these main events, 22 college-specific convocations, six special-interest celebrations, and five military ceremonies will take place between Saturday and May 17. While the majority of events will occur at the Tempe campus, some celebrations are also planned for downtown Phoenix.

Attendees at Mountain America Stadium and Desert Financial Arena will undergo security screenings and must adhere to university regulations. Among the graduates is a notable mix of ages and backgrounds, including a 14-year-old student planning to attend law school and a 77-year-old Vietnam veteran earning a master’s degree in international affairs and leadership.

Statistics reveal that ASU’s record class is not the largest in Arizona, as over 31,000 students graduated from Grand Canyon University (GCU) last year, with more than 25,000 of them completing their degrees online. According to estimates provided by ASU, the diverse composition of the graduating class highlights the university’s commitment to accessibility and education for all.

The excitement surrounding the graduations is palpable, as families and friends prepare to celebrate this monumental achievement for so many young and older scholars alike.
