Jillaroos 2024 Pacific Championships

The Australian Rugby League Commission has announced the squad that will represent the Harvey Norman Jillaroos in the 2024 Pacific Championships. The Jillaroos are set to compete against the Papua New Guinea Orchids at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane on October 18, and the New Zealand Kiwi Ferns at Apollo Projects Stadium in Christchurch on October 27.

Ali Brigginshaw and Kezie Apps have been confirmed as co-captains of the squad. The announcement was accompanied by remarks from ARLC Chairman, Peter V’landys AM, who emphasized the competitive nature of the selection process. “The strength and quality of the NRLW competition and the expanded State of Origin series has made competition for selections fierce,” V’landys said. He further added, “Congratulations to all these players who will now represent their country in a major tournament and lead the Jillaroos through an important period for the women’s game.”

V’landys highlighted the forthcoming developments in women’s rugby, including the expansion of the NRLW competition, a match in Las Vegas, and the impending World Cup, indicating significant growth opportunities for both the Australian national team and the women’s game.

Jillaroos Coach Brad Donald also congratulated the selected players, stating, “The squad is a good reflection of where the women’s game is at right now. We have a great balance of experience and youth in this squad, and it highlights the depth of talent available.” Donald mentioned that an initial camp occurred in January, where players outlined their aspirations leading into the 2026 Rugby League World Cup. “I feel this camp raised expectations and competition for positions this year, putting us in a very healthy position for the Pacific Championship and beyond,” he added.
