Sebastian Baez Tennis Match Atp Bucharest

Bucharest, RomaniaSebastian Baez advanced to the semifinals of the ATP 250 tournament on Friday after defeating fellow Argentine Francisco Comesana in a tightly contested match, 7-6(5), 2-6, 6-1.

This victory marks another milestone for Baez, who is pursuing his second tour-level title of the season after winning the ATP 500 event in Rio de Janeiro earlier this year.

Baez demonstrated his skill on clay, winning 53 percent (23 of 43) of points on Comesana’s second serve, while successfully breaking the serve four times throughout the two-hour and 20-minute match.

“It was hard because it is always tough to play against a fellow Argentine,” Baez said after the match. “I am happy with my level and his level too because he is doing very well. I am happy to be in the next round.”

Currently ranked No. 34 in the PIF ATP Live Rankings, Baez’s next opponent will be defending champion Marton Fucsovics. Fucsovics, who won the tournament last year, advanced to the semifinals by defeating Australia’s John Millman in straight sets, 6-0, 6-4. The 33-year-old Hungarian has maintained a strong record in Romania, winning his past eight matches there.

Additionally, Fucsovics is looking to secure his first title since winning the Bucharest event last season. This year’s tournament has proven competitive, with Baez and Fucsovics both vying for the championship as they prepare for their semifinals clash.

In another semifinal, Fucsovics reached his third tour-level semifinal after defeating Austrian qualifier Maximilian Marterer, 7-6(5), 6-4. The 22-year-old Argentine hopes to continue his solid performance after snapping an eight-match losing streak in the previous round.

The Bucharest ATP 250 tournament continues to showcase promising talent and competitive matches as players look to claim the title.
