Bailly and Collignon Shine in Brussels ATP Tournament

Brussels, Belgium — Belgian tennis players Botic van de Zandschulp and Julian Bailly both advanced in the ATP 250 tournament on October 14, 2025. Van de Zandschulp, ranked No. 86 in the world, captured a straight-set victory against Fonseca, winning 7-5, 7-6(2). This win ended his five-match losing streak on tour.
In the match, Van de Zandschulp rallied after initially trailing in both sets. He registered an impressive 32 winners compared to Fonseca’s 22. He also scored 88% of his first-serve points, totaling 42 out of 48. “I played a really good match, I served unbelievably well,” said Van de Zandschulp. “The key for me to win this match was to keep my focus in important moments.”
Next, he will face American qualifier in a second-round match. This is Van de Zandschulp’s first tournament working with a new coach. “It’s been different this year, but I’m enjoying it a lot,” he added.
In other results, 20-year-old Bailly claimed his first ATP Tour win with a thrilling upset over Altmaier, winning 6-4, 6-7(10), 6-3. This victory propelled him five spots up to 10th in the PIF ATP Live Race To Jeddah. If he wins his next match, he could climb to eighth.
Collignon, another Belgian qualifier, also advanced in a match against Bergs, securing a 6-4, 7-6(5) victory. This marked Collignon’s first win on home soil as well, and he expressed excitement about his performance. “It’s a huge thing for me to win here, especially in front of local fans,” he stated.
As the tournament progresses, other players like Mpetshi Perricard and Struff also advanced to the next round, showcasing strong performances throughout the tournament.
