Baylor University’s School of Music Secures $1 Million Grant and Achieves Notable Milestones
Baylor University’s School of Music has recently been awarded a significant grant that will enhance its programs and initiatives. The Dunn Center for Christian Music Studies within the Baylor School of Music has received a four-year $1 million grant from Lilly Endowment Inc. as part of its *Strengthening Ministries with Youth Initiative*. This grant is part of the Dunn Center’s *Building Bridges to the Future* project, which aims to enrich youth worship ministries.
In addition to this financial boost, the School of Music has also celebrated several other notable achievements. Isaiah Odajima, an associate professor of ensembles and associate director of bands, was inducted into the American Bandmasters Association at the organization’s national convention in Washington, D.C. He also served as a guest conductor for “The President's Own” United States Marine Band.
The Baylor Symphony Orchestra, known for its excellence, is set to make its debut at the Bass Performance Hall on April 23, 2024. Furthermore, the Baylor Wind Ensemble, in collaboration with prominent clarinetist Julian Bliss, has released a new album titled *Divine Mischief* on the Signum Classics label, available on all streaming platforms.
