Bill Nye Abigail Spanberger Virginia Rally

Charlottesville, Virginia – Former PBS host and ex-Boeing engineer Bill Nye, known as “The Science Guy,” is set to join former Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg at a rally for Virginia Democratic gubernatorial candidate Abigail Spanberger on Tuesday. The event will take place in Charlottesville, the hometown of President Thomas Jefferson.

Spanberger’s rally aims to bolster her campaign just days before the election. The event will highlight her efforts to distance herself from scandal-plagued Democratic attorney general candidate Jay Jones.

During this time, GOP lieutenant gubernatorial candidate John Reid will be leading a forum at the University of Virginia. All eyes will be on the contrasting political gatherings in Charlottesville, often noted as a Democratic stronghold amid the surrounding rural red districts.

Following controversy over her campaign, Spanberger has criticized Earle-Sears, the GOP candidate, for her support of restrictive abortion laws. An advertisement released earlier this week portrays Spanberger as a defender of individual rights.

Bill Nye has been active in political discourse, recently participating in a “No Kings” protest in Washington, D.C., critical of the current administration. He stated, “We are here to tell our lawmakers that what’s going on in our government is wrong…they are arresting people and denying due process in courts.”

White House spokesperson Abigail Jackson commented on Nye’s transition into politics, jokingly referring to him as “Bill Nye the Liberal Activist Guy.”

The political landscape in Virginia remains tense as both parties work to energize their bases ahead of the elections, with Spanberger appearing alongside prominent figures like former President Barack Obama in future events. The engagement reflects the high-stakes atmosphere as candidates aim to win over voters in this critical election cycle.
