St. Louis Blues Vs Chicago Blackhawks Shootout Hockey Game

ST. LOUIS — Radek Faksa scored the decisive goal in the 10th round of the shootout, lifting the St. Louis Blues to a 6-5 victory over the Chicago Blackhawks at Enterprise Center on Saturday.

The Blues (25-26-5) overcame a two-goal deficit in the first period and a back-and-forth third period to secure the win. Robert Thomas, Mathieu Joseph, and Philip Broberg each recorded a goal and an assist, while Jordan Binnington made 15 saves through regulation and overtime.

The Blackhawks (17-31-7) received a strong performance from Ilya Mikheyev, who had a goal and two assists. Alec Martinez and Teuvo Teravainen also contributed a goal and an assist each, and Arvid Soderblom stopped 35 shots in a busy night.

The two Central Division rivals met for the first time since the Blues’ 6-2 victory in the 2025 Discover Winter Classic at Wrigley Field on Dec. 31.

Chicago struck first in the opening period with goals from Craig Smith and Ryan Donato just 38 seconds apart. Smith converted a cross-slot pass from Patrick Maroon at 5:04, and Donato capitalized on a turnover, finishing a give-and-go with Connor Bedard at 5:42.

The Blues responded with three unanswered goals in the second period. Broberg’s wrist shot from the left point got past Soderblom’s glove at 1:40, and Nathan Walker tied the game just 10 seconds later by intercepting a pass and scoring from the high slot. Joseph put the Blues ahead at 17:09, finishing a pass from Brayden Schenn from behind the net.

The third period saw multiple lead changes. Martinez tied the game at 3:50 with a one-timer from the right circle, but Cam Fowler responded 42 seconds later when his shot deflected off Blackhawks defenseman Seth Jones. Teravainen knotted the score again at 6:08 with a one-timer that deflected off Blues defenseman Ryan Suter.

Mikheyev put Chicago ahead at 11:08 with a backhand through Binnington’s pads, but Thomas forced overtime by jamming in Philip Broberg’s shot at 15:23 after Soderblom misplayed the puck.

The game remained tied through overtime, setting the stage for Faksa’s winning shootout goal in the 10th round.
