Canadiens Acquire Forward Filip Cederqvist from Sabres
The Montreal Canadiens have made a trade to bolster their forward depth, acquiring Filip Cederqvist from the Buffalo Sabres. The deal was announced by Canadiens’ General Manager Kent Hughes on Thursday.
Cederqvist, a 23-year-old left winger from Skara, Sweden, has spent the season with the Rochester Americans in the American Hockey League (AHL). In 19 games, he has recorded four points (one goal, three assists) and accumulated 11 penalty minutes.
During his AHL career with the Americans, Cederqvist has tallied 10 goals and 14 assists in 74 games. He has also contributed three assists in eight playoff appearances.
Selected in the fifth round (143rd overall) by the Buffalo Sabres in the 2019 NHL Draft, Cederqvist brings size to the Canadiens lineup with his 6’3” and 196-pound frame.
