LAS VEGAS, Nev. — Carter Hart is set to make his 100th career win on Wednesday as the Vegas Golden Knights host the San Jose Sharks. The game starts at 7 p.m. PT at T-Mobile Arena.

Hart, 27, is coming off a strong performance where he stopped 21 of 23 shots in the Golden Knights’ 7-2 victory over the Sharks on December 24. Despite his recent success, success in achieving his milestone will not come easy, especially as the Sharks are desperate to avoid a three-game losing streak.

“It’s a big game for both teams. We’ll be looking to shut down Hart’s shot at 100 wins,” a Sharks player shared ahead of the faceoff.

The Golden Knights have struggled since signing Hart, going 11-8-8 compared to their initial 5-0-2 start. As they attempt to reposition themselves in the Pacific Division standings, they will be without key players including defenseman Shea Theodore, who is on injured reserve, and Jack Eichel, who is classified as day-to-day with a lower-body injury.

“We still have a solid team, and we believe we can compete,” Hart said. “I just want to do my part to help out.”

Hart maintains a record of 4-1-2 this season with a 2.48 goals-against average and a .904 save percentage over seven appearances. The way he is playing suggests that he remains the Golden Knights’ preferred number one goalie, starting in two of every three games since December 7.

San Jose has demonstrated resilience, often bouncing back from losing streaks, which both teams acknowledged will make for an intense matchup.

“It’s always tough to face a division rival, especially now,” said a Golden Knights player. “We know they’ll come out fighting.”

As the teams prepare, all eyes will be on Hart in his pursuit of the 100-win milestone.
