Severe storms and suspected tornadoes wreaked havoc across several central U.S. states, leaving a trail of devastation in their wake. As the sun rose on Friday, officials grappled with the aftermath of the destructive weather events, with widespread power outages exacerbating the emergency response efforts.

Authorities confirmed at least three fatalities in Logan County, Ohio, with more casualties feared as the extent of the damage is assessed. The storms also inflicted severe damage in Kentucky, Indiana, and Arkansas, with tornadoes suspected in Illinois and Missouri.

Notably, in Indiana, the towns of Winchester and Selma in Randolph and Delaware Counties bore the brunt of the tornadoes’ wrath. Multiple businesses, including a Walmart and Taco Bell in Winchester, were severely impacted, prompting urgent search and rescue operations by the Indiana State Police.

Communities like Union City, Greenville, and Muncie, where nearly 10,000 residents were left without power, were also affected. Indiana Michigan Power crews, collaborating with emergency personnel, worked tirelessly to restore essential services and assist affected residents.

In both Ohio and Kentucky, villages and towns like Lakeview, Russells Point, Hanover, Lamb, and Jefferson County faced substantial damage and power outages. The Governor of Kentucky, Andy Beshear, reported significant destruction in Milton, with over 100 structures affected.

Additional reports indicated storm devastation in Hot Springs Village, Arkansas, where a retirement community bore the brunt of the tornado’s fury. Though significant property damage was observed, no fatalities or injuries were immediately reported.
