Chris Pine "princess Diaries 3" Interview

Chris Pine, known for his role in the “Star Trek” series, recently expressed his unawareness regarding the development of “The Princess Diaries 3,” a sequel officially in the works at Disney. Pine, who starred as Nicholas in the 2004 film “The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement,” addressed the topic during an appearance on “Today With Hoda & Jenna.”

When asked about his involvement in the upcoming movie, Pine responded, “I don’t know anything,” and humorously advised the hosts to “Call Disney! Call Bob Iger!” His response was met with surprise by the co-hosts, Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager, who questioned his lack of awareness about the sequel.

The development of “Princess Diaries 3” is being led by director Adele Lim, known for her work on “Crazy Rich Asians,” with Flora Greeson tasked with writing the script. Although plot details are scarce, the new installment is anticipated to continue the storyline from the earlier films rather than reboot the franchise.

Adele Lim expressed her enthusiasm about joining the project, stating, “As a diehard fan of the original ‘Princess Diaries,’ I’m beyond excited to be a part of bringing the third iteration of this beloved franchise to life.” She highlighted the film’s themes of female empowerment, joy, and mentorship.

While Anne Hathaway, who played Mia Thermopolis, has indicated progress on the project, stating they are “in a good place,” there have been no official announcements regarding the plot or full cast. Fans are eager to see Pine and Hathaway reprising their roles, with some voicing their support for Nicholas and Mia’s return on social media.

The original “Princess Diaries,” released in 2001, and its 2004 sequel focused on the journey of Mia, a San Francisco teenager who discovers her royal heritage. Despite the lack of official casting announcements, fans continue to express their excitement for the new film, hoping to see familiar faces return to the beloved franchise.
