Los Angeles, CA — Claire Danes and Ewan McGregor have been cast to lead the new crime drama series, “The Spot,” produced by A24 for Hulu. The announcement was made on October 30, 2025, following the departure of actress Kate Winslet from the project.
Originally set to star and executive produce, Winslet left the production in June due to creative differences. Shortly after, Danes was approached for the role, which she has officially accepted after extensive negotiations.
Created and written by Ed Solomon, “The Spot” follows a successful surgeon, played by Danes, and her schoolteacher husband, portrayed by McGregor. The couple’s life takes a dark turn when the husband begins to suspect his wife might be responsible for a child’s hit-and-run accident. As they seek the truth, they are drawn into a complex web of suspicion and dark secrets that tests their relationship.
The series is currently in pre-production, with filming expected to start in 2026. Solomon will also serve as showrunner, while Robin Sweet and Ariel Kleiman are on board as executive producers. Kleiman will direct the series as well.
Danes, known for her role in “Homeland,” has garnered multiple Emmy awards and nominations throughout her career. She is also set to appear in Netflix’s upcoming limited series, “The Beast Inside Me.” Meanwhile, McGregor, an Emmy winner for “Halston,” has recently starred in the limited series “A Gentleman In Moscow” and will feature in the upcoming film “Flowervale Street.” Both actors are represented by top talent agencies.
With its gripping premise, “The Spot” has drawn significant interest and is poised to premiere on Hulu in late 2026 or early 2027.
