The Indian National Congress has revealed its ‘Nyay Patra‘ manifesto as the nation gears up for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. This significant document, unveiled at the party headquarters in New Delhi, focuses on impactful policies and guarantees under the banner of five ‘pillars of justice’. The event saw the presence of top Congress leaders including Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, KC Venugopal, and P Chidambaram.

The manifesto, titled ‘Nyay Patra’, lays out 25 distinct promises categorized under ‘Yuva Nyay, Naari Nyay, Kisaan Nyay, Shramik Nyay, and Hissedari Nyay’. It aims at bringing about substantial changes across different sectors and demographics in the country as part of the party’s vision for governance and development.

Among the key highlights of the manifesto are the commitment to introduce a constitutional amendment to lift the 50% cap on reservations for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and Other Backward Classes. Additionally, it pledges a 10% quota in jobs and educational institutions for economically weaker sections, irrespective of their social or caste background.

One of the notable promises is the enactment of the ‘Right to Apprenticeship Act‘, which ensures a one-year apprenticeship opportunity for every individual below the age of 25 who holds a diploma or a graduate degree. This move is expected to enhance skill development and employment prospects among the youth.

The manifesto also assures a legal guarantee for Minimum Support Price (MSP) to safeguard the interests of farmers and promote agricultural sustainability. Furthermore, it advocates for the restoration of Jammu and Kashmir’s statehood and the scrapping of certain contentious laws for the region.

Other significant proposals include the implementation of a national minimum wage of Rs 400 per day, the launch of the Mahalakshmi Scheme providing financial assistance to underprivileged families, and the creation of more job opportunities by filling nearly 30 lakh sanctioned vacancies in government positions.
