Conor McGregor Confirms 2025 Return to UFC, Eyes Matches with Michael Chandler
Conor McGregor, the renowned mixed martial artist, has announced his intention to return to the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) octagon in 2025. The Irish fighter shared his plans in an interview with DAZN boxing, highlighting his desire to face off against Michael Chandler, who is scheduled to fight Charles Oliveira this November.
Via a social media post by ESPN MMA, McGregor stated, “It will be 2025.” He further elaborated on his focus, saying, “My job is just to go to the gym, be in the gym, stay in shape, and be sure that whenever it is, wherever it is, I will be ready.”
When asked about fighting twice in the upcoming year, McGregor responded, “I must,” referencing his current commitment to two fights under his UFC contract. McGregor expressed uncertainty about his future beyond these commitments, stating, “I don’t even know. I am the highest generating fighter on planet earth right now in today’s space, what happens after this as a free agent, I am not sure.”
McGregor’s last appearance in the octagon was marked by a significant injury; he has not fought since breaking his leg during a bout against Dustin Poirier in 2021. Although he was expected to face Chandler this past June, the fight was postponed due to McGregor suffering a broken pinky toe.
The former two-division champion holds a professional record of 22 wins, 6 losses, and no draws, remaining one of the most prominent figures in the mixed martial arts world.
