Cool and Breezy Weather Forecast for Rochester This Week

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Fall has officially arrived in Rochester, and so has a large upper-level low pressure system.
This system will hover over the region starting Tuesday night and will affect the weather for much of the week. As a result, residents can expect cooler than average temperatures, breezy conditions, and frequent lake effect rain showers.
Rain showers are predicted to increase after midnight, leading to a damp start for many on Wednesday morning. While there won’t be continuous heavy rain, some areas will experience on-and-off waves of lake rain showers, particularly those west and south of Rochester.
Temperatures on Wednesday will be in the lower 50s, with a noticeable breeze from the southwest that could gust up to 30 mph.
Similar weather is expected on Thursday, featuring intermittent rain showers alongside cool air and brisk winds. As the low pressure system begins to weaken by Friday, the rain showers may become less frequent, although areas in the western Southern Tier and Tug Hill could see several inches of rain by the end of the week.
Some lingering showers and cool temperatures will carry into Friday. However, the forecast looks brighter for the weekend, with a decreased chance of rain on Saturday. A few isolated showers may still occur, but temperatures will remain cooler than average. Sunday is expected to bring fair weather, continuing into the early part of the following week.
