Cynthia Erivo Wicked Premiere Red Carpet

NEW YORK CITY, NY — Cynthia Erivo captivated audiences once again at the premiere of

Wicked: For Good” in New York City on Nov. 17. The Oscar-nominated actress, 38, returned to her role as Elphaba, donning a stunning custom gown by Balenciaga‘s Pierpaolo Piccioli.

Erivo’s gown featured a feather-trimmed turtleneck cape and a pleated drop-waist skirt with a dramatic train, reflecting her character’s magical essence. She accessorized with oversized butterfly sunglasses and diamond jewelry, completing her enchanting look.

On Instagram, Erivo’s stylist Jason Bolden described her as “a Real Witch in Custom 🖤.” Despite losing her voice earlier that day, as confirmed by Universal, she walked the red carpet alongside her co-star, Ariana Grande, who plays Glinda.

The studio released a statement saying, “Unfortunately, Cynthia is not feeling well, and has lost her voice, therefore she and Ariana will not be doing interviews this evening.” Both actresses are known for their strong connection on and off-screen, with their roles embodying the core of the witches’ origin story from the Broadway musical.

“It’s super just honest with each other,” Erivo said in a joint interview about her bond with Grande. “We each have something the other can love and can see themselves.” Grande referred to acting alongside Erivo as “the greatest privilege of my professional life.”

The film, which picks up the story after the events of “Wicked: Part One,” showcases Elphaba as the Wizard’s enemy, bringing fresh challenges to the witch’s tale. “Wicked: For Good” is set to hit theaters on Nov. 21.
