Delhi Witnesses 53.73% Voter Turnout in Sixth Phase of Lok Sabha Elections
A voter turnout of 53.73% was recorded till 5 p.m. in Delhi during the sixth phase of the Lok Sabha elections. The highest turnout was recorded in the North East Delhi constituency at 57.97%, while the New Delhi seat had the lowest voting percentage at 50.44%.
President Droupadi Murmu, Union ministers S. Jaishankar and Hardeep Singh Puri, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Delhi minister Atishi, Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, and outgoing East Delhi MP Gautam Gambhir were among those who cast their votes in various constituencies.
The minimum temperature in Delhi settled as voters queued up to exercise their franchise. The National Capital is under a ‘yellow’ alert, as per the Met department.
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has fielded candidates like Kuldeep Kumar, Mahabal Mishra, Somnath Bharti, and Sahi Ram Pahalwan in different constituencies. The Congress has nominated J.P. Agarwal, Kanhaiya Kumar, and Udit Raj for various seats.
On the other hand, the BJP candidates include Manoj Tiwari, Ramvir Singh Bidhuri, Bansuri Swaraj, Harsh Deep Malhotra, Yogendra Chandolia, Praveen Khandelwal, and Kamaljeet Sehrawat, contesting in different constituencies across Delhi.
