Anuj Thapan, one of the individuals involved in the firing incident outside Bollywood actor Salman Khan‘s residence in Bandra, has tragically taken his own life while in custody of Mumbai Police.

The incident occurred when Thapan hanged himself using a bedsheet in the lock-up’s toilet. Despite immediate medical attention at GT Hospital, Thapan could not be revived.

Thapan and Sonu Kumar Bishnoi were arrested in Punjab for supplying weapons to shooters Sagar Pal and Vicky Gupta, who had previously been apprehended.

On April 29, a Special Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) court in Mumbai extended the police custody of the accused in connection with the shooting at Salman Khan’s home.

The accused individuals were charged under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Arms Act. Strict MCOCA provisions were invoked against the shooters and suppliers, including Thapan and Bishnoi, along with gangster Lawrence Bishnoi and his brother Anmol.

Following the shooting incident at Galaxy Apartment in Bandra, Khan’s residence, the initial FIR was filed under section 307 of the Indian Penal Code for attempted murder.
