Arsenal midfielder Sambi Lokonga has secured a season-long loan move to La Liga side Sevilla, as officially announced by the clubs. The 24-year-old, who spent the previous season on loan at Luton Town, has now set his sights on playing in Spain’s top football league.

The deal, which includes an option for Sevilla to buy Lokonga for a reported fee of around €12million, marks a significant move for the Belgian international. Lokonga’s desire to ply his trade in Spain gave Sevilla the edge over other suitors, including Fiorentina.

During his loan spell at Luton Town, Lokonga impressed despite being limited to 19 appearances due to various injuries. The midfielder, who joined Arsenal from Anderlecht in 2021, has made 39 appearances for the Gunners, showcasing his talent and potential.

Sevilla, who finished 14th in La Liga last season, are under the leadership of head coach Francisco Pimienta, following the departure of Quique Sanchez Flores. This move to Sevilla represents a new challenge for Lokonga as he looks to continue his development in a competitive European league.
