Aston Villa is nearing the completion of a £50 million deal to bring in Everton midfielder Amadou Onana as part of their reinforced squad gearing up for the Champions League campaign. The move comes as Villa continues its active transfer window, having already secured talents like Enzo Barrenechea and Ross Barkley to boost their midfield options.

Onana, who represented Belgium in Euro 2024, is on the verge of joining Unai Emery‘s side after an impressive stint at Everton under the guidance of manager Sean Dyche. Despite interest from Bayern Munich and Barcelona, Villa appears to have won the race for the midfielder’s signature.

Belgium’s exit from the Euros has triggered the wheels for Onana’s departure from Goodison Park, with Villa reportedly sealing personal terms with the player for a long-term contract. The £50 million deal is now in the final stages of negotiations between Villa and Everton.

Manchester United, Arsenal, and Newcastle were among the other Premier League clubs linked with Onana, along with Bayern and Barcelona from the European powerhouse leagues of Germany and Spain.

Meanwhile, at Manchester United, defender Harry Maguire is determined to stay and fight for his place in Erik ten Hag‘s plans for the upcoming season. Maguire, who had a challenging period losing the captaincy last year, has impressed Ten Hag with his commitment and form, leading to a possible revival in his United career.

United is also pursuing the signing of striker Ivan Toney from Brentford, with the player expressing a desire to join the club. Talks have reportedly commenced with Bologna for Joshua Zirkzee and Bayern Munich for defender Matthijs De Ligt.
