Suzanne Morphew’s mysterious death in May 2020 has been officially ruled as a homicide through an autopsy report released by the Colorado Bureau of Investigation on Monday. The report indicates that Suzanne Morphew’s death resulted from a concoction of wildlife tranquilizers, specifically butorphanol, azaperone, and medetomidine, although the precise means of how these substances were administered remain undetermined.

Barry Morphew, Suzanne’s husband, had previously faced charges in connection to his wife’s death in 2021, only for those charges to be dropped in April 2022, mere days before his trial was set to commence. To date, no arrests have been made in the ongoing investigation into Suzanne Morphew’s homicide.

Following an arduous search, Suzanne Morphew’s remains were ultimately discovered in September 2023 in Moffat, Colorado, situated in Saguache County, approximately 90 minutes away from her residence in Chaffee County.

Legal expert David Webster, a former prosecutor with extensive experience in handling homicide cases, shed light on the distinct nature of Suzanne Morphew’s cause of death, highlighting the intricate details of wildlife tranquilizers found in her system and speculating on potential suspects with knowledge and access to such substances.

The twists and turns in the case have been notable, particularly with the abrupt dismissal of charges against Barry Morphew in 2022, prompting a shift in prosecution leadership from Linda Stanley to Anne Kelly of the 12th Judicial District.

In a statement following the autopsy revelations, the Morphew family expressed their ongoing anguish over Suzanne’s disappearance, their dissatisfaction with the investigation’s progress, and the lack of closure or accountability for her demise.

Colorado Bureau of Investigation Director, Chris Schaefer, confirmed that the investigative team continues to pursue justice for Suzanne Morphew, emphasizing the meticulous approach to following evidence and the commitment to unraveling the complexities surrounding her tragic death.
