Donald Glover Preps Final Childish Gambino Album Release
Donald Glover, a multi-talented artist known for his work in music, film, and television, is gearing up for the release of his fifth and final album under his stage name, Childish Gambino.
The album, titled ‘Bando Stone & the New World,’ is set to drop at midnight and will mark the conclusion of Glover’s musical journey under the moniker that earned him five Grammy Awards.
Glover’s new album features collaborations with artists such as Chlöe, Amaarae, Jorja Smith, and Fousheé, along with rappers Yeat and Flo Milli, as indicated in the tracklist shared on Twitter.
Notably absent from the album are the anticipated collaborations with Kanye West and Kid Cudi, leaving some fans disappointed.
The album serves as both a musical project and the soundtrack for an upcoming film of the same name, written and directed by Glover himself, which was previewed on his YouTube channel two weeks ago.
In the film and album, Glover portrays the character Bando Stone, a renowned musician in a post-apocalyptic world devoid of people except for a woman and her child, threatened by violent creatures.
Two singles from the album, ‘Lithonia’ and ‘In the Night,’ have already been released and well-received by Glover’s fanbase.
Glover had previously hinted at retiring the Childish Gambino persona, expressing his intentions as early as 2017 and reiterating them at various points leading up to this final release.
With a successful career spanning music, including his previous albums and hit songs like ‘This Is America,’ Glover has also made a mark in film and television with projects like ‘Atlanta‘ and ‘Mr. & Mrs. Smith.’
Upcoming projects for Glover include a ‘Community’ revival film, voicing Simba in ‘The Lion King,’ and writing for a new Star Wars film, showcasing his diverse talents across multiple mediums.
With critical acclaim and a dedicated fan base, Glover’s final hurrah as Childish Gambino is highly anticipated in the entertainment world.
