The Hawthorn Hawks have launched a daring bid to secure the services of versatile Giants player Harry Perryman as the AFL‘s free agency period heats up. Led by coach Sam Mitchell and player acquisition manager Jarryd Roughead, a Hawthorn contingent set their sights on Perryman, who is currently assessing his options as an unrestricted free agent.

At just 25 years old, Perryman has attracted interest from multiple clubs, including those from South Australia, as he considers his future in the league. The Hawks, eager to bolster their squad, have reportedly offered Perryman a lucrative five-year contract worth approximately $800,000 per season, signaling their strong intent to lure the talented utility to their club.

Caroline Wilson, a prominent journalist, disclosed details of Hawthorn’s pursuit of Perryman on Channel 9‘s Footy Classified, drawing parallels to previous high-profile recruitment endeavors in the AFL. She highlighted the aggressive nature of the Hawks’ approach, reminiscent of past attempts by other clubs to secure key players.

Meanwhile, rival clubs such as the Adelaide teams and Essendon remain in the race for Perryman’s signature, with the player showing a preference for Sydney due to personal ties, as his partner is associated with the city’s netball team.

Jon Ralph, a reporter for the Herald Sun, previously revealed insights into the Giants’ contract offer to Perryman, which stands at a reported five-year deal valued at around $650,000. The ongoing negotiations have kept Perryman focused on his on-field performance, as he navigates the complexities of free agency and contract talks.

Perryman, a product of the Giants Academy and a former first-round draft pick, has been a consistent performer for GWS, finishing third in the club’s best and fairest count in 2020. With 119 AFL games under his belt since his debut in 2017, Perryman’s decision on his future looms large as clubs vie for his services in a competitive market.
