Keegan Bradley Named US Ryder Cup Captain for 2025 Tournament
In a surprising turn of events, Keegan Bradley has been appointed as the captain of the US Ryder Cup team for the upcoming 2025 tournament. Bradley, a six-time PGA Tour winner, was unveiled as the captain by the PGA of America, bypassing speculation that Tiger Woods might assume the role.
The 38-year-old Bradley, a former PGA champion, will lead the American team against Europe at the prestigious Bethpage Black in Farmingdale, New York. His selection makes him the youngest captain since Arnold Palmer‘s leadership in 1963.
John Lindert, the president of the PGA of America, expressed his pride in naming Bradley as the captain, highlighting Bradley’s past Ryder Cup experience and passion for the event. Lindert is confident that Bradley’s leadership will inspire the US team to compete strongly at Bethpage.
In response to his appointment, Bradley expressed his gratitude for the opportunity, emphasizing his strong passion for the Ryder Cup. The event holds a special place for Bradley, and he is eager to begin preparations for the 2025 edition at Bethpage Black.
Bradley’s selection comes after much speculation surrounding Tiger Woods potentially becoming the captain. However, Woods, deeply involved in negotiations between the PGA Tour and LIV Golf, made it known that he needed sufficient time to dedicate to the role, ultimately prompting the selection of Bradley.
Bradley’s experience in previous Ryder Cup appearances, including in Medinah and Gleneagles, coupled with his collegiate golf background at St. John's University, positions him well to lead the US team. Despite being left off the 2023 team, Bradley’s record and expertise in the sport have earned him the prestigious captaincy.
The upcoming Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black will bring Bradley face-to-face with Europe once again, providing an opportunity for the US team to redeem themselves after the defeat in Rome. With Bradley at the helm, the US team aims to break Europe’s winning streak on American soil.
