Massive Fire Breaks Out at Enva’s WEEE Solutions Facility in Linwood
A significant fire erupted last night at Enva‘s WEEE Solutions e-waste facility located in Linwood Industrial Estate. Emergency services swiftly responded to the incident on Burnbrae Road shortly after 9pm.
Residents in Renfrewshire and some areas of Glasgow observed thick plumes of smoke billowing into the sky. Firefighters, police, and SEPA (Scottish Environment Protection Agency) officials mobilized and secured the area’s closure for safety measures.
Enva, a recycling company based within the Linwood Industrial Estate, confirmed the fire at their e-waste facility and emphasized that emergency services remain on-site for investigation and containment.
In a statement, Enva expressed regrets for any inconvenience caused to local residents and businesses, urging adherence to guidelines issued by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service. The company assured that no injuries were reported and that a comprehensive inquiry into the fire’s cause would be conducted promptly.
Enva intends to promptly reach out to affected customers to ensure continuity of service. Although the company’s Linwood general waste recycling facility remained untouched by the fire, it will stay closed until emergency services lift the cordon and operational control returns to Enva.
The statement concluded with Enva extending gratitude to the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and the police for their efficient and professional response to the situation.
